Mission Statement
Our mission statement is to reduce motor vehicle crimes in our community and
educate the public with auto theft awareness information.
Our Biggest Problem
Our biggest auto theft problem relates to the
close proximity to Mexico.
Most Noteworthy Accomplishment
Our auto theft rate has declined, and our
recoveries of stolen vehicles reported to other agencies have been increasing,
due to the increased relationship with law enforcement officials in the Republic
of Mexico.
Expertise
Our expertise is in the relationship with the Mexican authorities. This task
force has networked with law enforcement officials in Piedras Negras and other
areas of Mexico. We have met with the officers and have established a strong
professional relationship with them. This facilitates obtaining information as
well as the location of stolen vehicles in Mexico. For example, on March 17,
2003, our task force assisted the San Antonio Police Department with the
recovery of a stolen vehicle that had been stolen in their city and had been
taken into Piedras Negras, Coahuila, Mexico. The vehicle belonged to a homicide
victim. Due to the relationship that this task force has with the city of
Piedras Negras, the vehicle was brought back to the U.S. without any “red tape”
involved. Due to information provided by the Mexican authorities, we are
compiling a database, thus keeping a record of all vehicles inquired on by
Mexican officials.
Our Advice
We advise other auto theft investigators and task forces to work with
informants, because they can give you the most information on new trends that
are about to surface. The best advice that this office can give is (830)
773-9044 (our phone number). DO NOT HESITATE TO CALL ANY ONE OF US!!!
What We Can Offer
We can provide assistance and answers to questions regarding what is happening in Mexico and along the border in regards to auto theft.
